What is the difference between collecting blood versus collecting buccal swabs?

The is no difference between the DNA from buccal cells versus the DNA from blood cells. Genetic testing performed on DNA extracted from buccal cells are the same as tests performed on DNA extracted from blood.

Buccal swab sample collection is a newer way of collecting DNA that is non-invasive. Unlike blood collection, buccal swab collection is safe and painless.
